What a feeling -- to participate in a protest and get results within minutes. This morning I attended a protest at the Ministry of the Interior together with my wife Haviva and Meira, our seven year old daughter. We joined hundreds of othersto raise our voice against the destruction of the last remaining "Jerusalem Hills" by an ill-concieved plan to build 20,000 new residential units and expand the municipal borders of Jerusalem. For a full report of the protest and the government decison see today's Jerusalem Post .
Bottom line result: the National Planning pushed off a decision by 2 months, specifically citing the strong citizen protest, and widespread cross-party political opposition to the municipality's plans.
So for now my beloved biking trails are safe...but the war to preserve Jerusalem's unique character continues.
I was especially proud that Meira, my seven year old came with us...here she is with some performance artists at the protest:
My parents started me off early as well...lets hope she keeps protesting for what she believes in.
Until tomorrow.
Jacob

Thank you for doing this! we should all try to do our best to fight against those plans, which will unfortunately affect the beauty and the unique atmosphere of those amazing Jerusalem Hills, permanently.

I look forward to more comments Jacob. I don't think we'll always agree. But I am sure you will always have something to say.
