The day started with a prayer service and then festive meal for the bar-mitzva of Sagen "Simha" Lawrence, a friend of my daughter Michal and son of good friends of ours, Scott and Heidi. The prayer service was held at King David's Tomb, just outside the Old City walls (next to Zion Gate). King David may or may not be buried there, but as with all "holy" places in Jerusalem...all three religions (Judaism, Islam, and Christianity) want to be there...see these pictures from this morning for a sense of how close we all are, look for the minaret and cathedral, the Jewish worshippers are standing on roof of King David's tomb:
Of course my daughter Michal
felt the need to climb on top of
the dome of King David's Tomb for
better view....
Now if only as people we could get along together as well as our buildings do...blending in one to the other.
(And yes, I checked, there are open, unsecured WiFi connections up there...)
